What Your Urine Color Says About Your Health


Eating a rainbow of fruits and veggies is great for your health, but what about when your urine turns into one of a spectrum of colors? Regular urine color varies but usually ranges from clear to pale yellow. The exact hue depends on how much water you drink. Fluids dilute the yellow pigments in urine. So the more you drink, the clearer your urine looks. When you drink less, the yellow color becomes stronger.

In this video I explained the different causes of urine color change and when to see a doctor. Clear or Light Yellow: This is the ideal urine color, indicating you are well hydrated. Clear or light yellow urine means you are drinking enough fluids. Dark Yellow: Dark yellow urine is a sign you need to drink more water. It means you are dehydrated and your body is trying to conserve fluid.


Bright or Neon Yellow: This can be caused by certain vitamins or supplements, like B vitamins. It's not necessarily a health concern. Orange: Orange urine can be a sign of dehydration, but it can also indicate a liver or bile duct problem. Certain medications can also cause orange urine. Pink or Red: Reddish urine may be caused by beets, rhubarb, or certain medications. But it can also signal blood in the urine, which requires medical attention.


Blue or Green: Unusually colored urine like blue or green is rare but can be a side effect of certain medications or foods. It's generally not a health concern. Cloudy or Murky: Cloudy or turbid urine may indicate a urinary tract infection, kidney stones, or other health issue, and should be checked by a doctor. The color and clarity of your urine can provide useful clues about your state of hydration and potential health issues. Paying attention to changes in your urine color and consulting a doctor if you notice anything unusual is recommended.
